From Hotel Terminus to Duke Studio Hotel

History

Duke Studio Hotel stands on the Boschveldweg, on the site of the former Hotel Terminus, close to the station. Architecture firm Houben / Van Mierlo designed the new building in 2018, and it was completed in July 2025.

The hotel completes a block between two apartment buildings. Its L-shape creates space for a green patio. The expressive façade stands out against its understated neighbours, while the inner courtyard has a calmer feel. The 34 studios are spread over five floors, and you can spot the striking canopy above the entrance from the station.

For the new façade, the architects looked at the proportions of the old one, so the character of the old hotel was preserved in a contemporary form. The light brickwork matches the façades along the street and is complemented by light beige brick piers with a toothed corner. Traditional materials, used in a modern way.
